Hi!
I am a Ph.D. Student in Human-Centered Computing, working with Dr. Eliane Wiese in the Code in Context Lab, School of Computing at the University of Utah.
I am interested in CS Education broadly and specifically in providing evidence-based support for CS students to write well-structured and high-quality code.
To become professional programmers, students must learn that programming is not just about writing code that produces the expected behavior. Code must also be well-structured, transparent, and easy for others to read, maintain, and modify. Unfortunately, teaching code structure to students is very challenging partly because instructors don't have a complete understanding of students' needs. The traditional way of measuring student knowledge, through structural issues in student programs, falls short of providing a complete picture of student knowledge. Therefore, my research focuses on assessing student knowledge through multiple assessment approaches to get a better understanding of their needs and to provide more tailored tools and support for them.
In addition, I am interested in teaching ethics to students through ethics-integrated instruction and assignments.
